Corinne Morris, with this new CD, has given music lovers an hour of pure pleasure.
For her return to the world of professional music recording, she has wisely chosen a selection of smaller scale works, all played to the highest standard.
We hear her perfect intonation, outstanding control of a lyrical line and fearless virtuosity when called for.
The Massenet Meditation de Thaїs cannot be more beautifully played. It has an exquisite gradation of tone sustained perfectly over a long line of thought. It was also interesting to hear the two Tchaikovsky pieces, which made us look forward to Corinne Morris’s interpretation of the Rococo Variations.
The well-known Saint Saëns, Fauré and Piazolla were also very fine. The ensemble of soloist, orchestra and conductor, as well as the overall recording sound, were excellent.
Some listeners will have heard Corinne Morris’s very fine performances of larger scale works by Beethoven (Sonatas and Triple concerto), Brahms, Martinu, Shostakovich, Barber, Schumann and Haydn. So we are eager to experience her music making in the larger canvasses for ‘cello and orchestra by the great masters. Therefore we hope that this introductory CD will lead to many well deserved opportunities for this outstanding artist to perform with great orchestras, conductors and instrumentalists.

The Beethoven was magisterial; the Bridge joyous and the Britten deeply powerful. Nearly a full range of emotional participation….. and the rapport between yourself & Kathron was complete along with the tenderness of the Casals.
Sincere thanks for creating a perfect evening’s music!
